Britlin Ann Linkowitz arrives!

I’m a bit late in announcing this at the blog, but after having quite a few past and current clients email me in the past few days, I have finally found the time to write a post.

Britlin Ann Linkowitz arrived on November 20th, at 2:36am. Weighing only 6.36lbs, and a height of 19.5in she was quite the small baby.

Tiffany and I have been trying to get down the parenting, and our new roles in life but we are slowly getting the hang of it. No where near perfect, but it’ll be a work in progress for the rest of our lives.

I have set up an entire blog just for Britlin, to post pictures and keep family up to date. Haven’t had the chance to get too creative yet with shots, or things like that so the work is a bit different then what can be viewed here!

James Linkowitz

Bennett, Patti & Jeb…

After not taking on any clients for the late Fall and early Winter while awaiting the arrival of my Daughter, the shooting bug has bit me! I had been telling Tiffany for the past two weekends that I was “bored” and wanting to get out and shoot. I’m just happy with the camera in my hands, smiling people in front of me, and the post production time I spend in front of the computer. This morning we met Bennett and Patti with their almost one year old son; Jeb. Patti and Tiffany work at MCV together in the MRICU. We did the shoot at Libby Hill which is a great little spot in the Church Hill area. I’m still experimenting with the family style sessions, figuring out what works and what doesn’t. Jeb is one cute kid, and even struck a pose for the camera a few times. We might have a future photographer on our hands, he was pretty interested in the Canon 16-35 2.8 lens

The Linkowitz Family 2.5

Well today Tiffany and I decided that it would be a great day to take some “family” type of pictures before Britlin Ann Linkowitz arrives in this world. Tiffany is due on November 12th, so we thought we were getting close and we wanted to make sure we had some images. Without any photo friends available to do the shoot, it was up to me, my eye, and the tripod! I’ve never been a fan of being in front of the camera, I’d much rather prefer being the guy behind the lens! I never really thought how much time and effort the famous photographer Cindy Sherman put into her “Untitled Film Stills” series from the late 1970’s.

James & Brandy Wedding…

In August I had the opportunity to do an e-session with James and Brandy, the day was awesome and I had been looking forward to yesterday’s wedding since then.  A great couple, who just have a fantastic connection between the two of them.  The wedding yesterday was held in McKenney,VA and the weather was great!  No rain and more importantly, no heat!  Here is the “sneak peek” of the images, I wish James and Brandy a happy marriage, and I hope they enjoy the cruise next week!

Megan & Clay Wedding…

Saturday the 23rd, I had the chance to photograph the wedding of Megan and Clay.  I was excited to photograph the wedding as it was my first chance to photograph a wedding a Maymont.  The weather was warm and a bit cloudy which lead to a perfect day for getting shots with natural light.  The ceremony and reception were beautiful, another great job done by Colleen Cook of CCS Events and her staff.  I want to thank Megan and Clay for letting me be a part of their special day, and I hope they love the images I captured.  Looking forward to my next Maymont wedding, in two weeks!

Park Rapids, MN…

Last Wednesday night I flew out of Richmond and headed out the the Midwest!  Flying into Minneapolis, and then into Bemidji,MN where my brother picked me up to take me to Park Rapids, MN.  My brother John has lived in “PR” for quite sometime and was able to take some time from a busy schedule to let me come up and relax for a few days.  I had a great time from fishing (11 fish total), “Tubing”, Golfing to meeting his friends.  I did have the chance to bring a little bit of my photography gear with me, it was odd shooting “nature/landscapes” as that is something I usually do not do!

“Long Lost Lake” actually flooded in 2001, this was a common scene around the lake.

This is the start of the Mississippi River in the Itasca State Park.

Katherine & Rob…

Today I had the chance to go downtown and have an engagement session with Katherine and Rob. What a fun couple to be able to photograph, willing to do anything and both seemed to love the camera. Rob is in the military and heading out for Afghanistan next Friday, so it was great to get these done. Here a few; from Monument Avenue to Carytown, I think we had a pretty good time.
